Karlštejn and Koněprusy Caves

This trip takes you to one of the most popular Czech attractions: Karlštejn castle. The latter served as a vault for the collection of holy relics and the crown jewels for the Holy Roman Empire. Karlštejn is located near Prague in area called Czech Karst, which is a landscape of spectacular precipices, bottomless canyons and vertical cliffs.  Below them lurks a fascinating world of caves marvellously decorated with stalactites and stalagmites. The trip includes a visit to the Koněprusy Caves, the largest known cave system in Bohemia; you will also get to see the beautiful Svatý Jan pod Skalou Monastery and hear about its many myths and legends.

Kutná Hora and the Ossuary (Bone Church) in Sedlec

The medieval silver-mining town of Kutná Hora is one of the most historically important towns in the Czech Republic. The historical town center is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list and St. Barbara’s Cathedral is a prime example of Late Gothic architecture. The cathedral’s splendid structure attests to the long-ago fame and riches of Kutná Hora, as well as to the deep devotion of its creators. The tour also includes visits to other important monuments in Kutná Hora: the Stone Fountain, the Italian Court and the Jesuit College. After lunch, we will continue to the world famous Ossuary (Bone Church) in Sedlec. It is located in the underground chapel of the Church of All Saints and contains the bones of about 40,000 people who died of the plague in 1318 and during the Hussite Wars in the 15th century. Bones and skulls have been arranged into creative decorations that include bells, the Schwarzenberg family coat-of-arms and a chandelier. All this makes the Sedlec Ossuary a unique, world-renowned attraction.
